North Wales graduate needs your votes for Red Bull animation competition!
Creative Media graduate and former GO Wales placee Victoria Louise Fellows has produced a short animation for a nationwide competition by Red Bull to find the best animation talent in the UK.
Redbull launched the nationwide Canimation competition in a search for talented individuals to produce a short animation featuring the blue and silver can. The best animations will be featured on Channel4 and in cinemas nationwide – as well as bagging one of the many prizes on offer.
Victoria’s animation; ‘Red Bull gives you Springs’ has been showcased on the Redbull website and she is hoping to one of the ten shortlisted to go through to the next stage of the competition. She said;
“I was at the Flip Animation Festival, volunteering, when all of a sudden I thought how cool would it be to turn the red bull can into a slinky? So my partner Tim and I animated it! I wanted to include Tim’s blue tac man character but he made a Red Bull cowboy ride a springy can with bull horns on it, like a bull rider. And our tag line: Red Bull Gives You Springs!”
To win, films must be viewed, liked, shared and tweeted as much as possible to get an overall score of how popular it is to get into the top 10 to be judged. The amount of online buzz an animation receives will determine if it is shortlisted for the Top 10.
“There are 3 categories stopmotion, CGI and drawn. Students can win internships at some of the best creative agencies in the world; Aardman Animations, 4Creative and The Mill. Open category animators will win a top of the range laptop and some expensive animation software. We aim to get into the top 10 so our animation will be seen by the Creative Director at Aardman (Wallace and Gromit) and other key figures in the industry!”
