Tour Manager for LCD Soundsystem and Beth Ditto brings essential advice for Music Businesses in Swansea
Welsh Music Foundation (WMF) is holding two key events at the Dylan Thomas Centre in Swansea on 14 December 2011.
The first entitled ‘Advancing 101 – How to have a great show before soundcheck begins’, is aimed at bands, managers, musicians and promoters from Swansea and the surrounding areas, giving them a chance to hear from Tour Manager Fionna Allan who’s worked with LCD Soundsystem, Beth Ditto, Hot Chip, The Pipettes and The Kills amongst others, giving good practice advice and discussion so they are ready and switched on from the beginning – when applying to play right through to show time – a not to be missed opportunity for all those involved in live music.
Following will be the WMF stakeholder meeting, where WMF will be giving an update on their new and forthcoming projects including the successful bid to bring Womex 2013 to Wales and international trade mission opportunities for music, plus, they’re keen to hear more about the scene inSwansea and surrounds – welcoming any comments and thoughts on any music-related issues in the area.
Also, as part of this meeting they will be offering details about the Arts Council of Wales’ newly proposed Music Industry Development Fund and asking for your views on how the money could possibly benefit your business / career progression / music opportunities. This fund could provide great opportunities’ for those working in the music industry inWales.
