Write the World – The Guardian Journalism Competition

The Guardian is running a competition for students to have their articles published alongside some of the best journalists in the world. They are looking for enthusiastic writers who want to demonstrate their journalistic abilities by focusing on crucial issues facing the developing world.

The competition has two strands; one for professional journalists and one for amateurs including students. All entrants need to do is write a 600-1000 word article by May 3 on an aspect of global poverty that deserves more media exposure than it currently receives.

The best 16 writers will have their articles published online at guardian.co.uk and will then be flown out to Africa or Asia for a once in a lifetime opportunity to research a new assignment. These will then be published in two special Guardian newspaper supplements.
